Huge MDC rally in Harare

Following the murder of Learnmore Jongwe, MDC held a memorial gathering in Rufaro Stadium at the start of November, attended by over 10,000. Now the fight for the by-election fo his seat is on. MDC held a rally in Highfiled last Saturday. Here is what Mrs Sekai Holland reported about it:
"The rally had I believe 100 000 people. The riot squad tried and failed to come into the grounds. The youths just told them to stay outside the grounds otherwise their entrance would spark off the 4th chimurenga which Mugabe is itching to spark on and which if he did spark on he cannot win.
"We were there from 9am-4.30pm. We left when we were too exhausted with the singing and dancing."
After the rally news came through that Job Sikhala, MP for St Mary's, and Tafadzwa Musekiwa, MP for Zengeza and the youngest MP ever, were arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning for fraud. This is interpreted as an extension of the attack on Jongwe. Sikhala and Musekiwa were in the same group as Jongwe at the University fo Zimbabwe in the early 1990s.
