MDC condemns police brutal attack of NCA demonstrators
The Movement of Democratic Change condemns in strongest terms the brutal assault, and the unleashing of dogs on scores of members of the National Constitutional Assembly by armed and uniformed members of the Zimbabwe Republic this afternoon. The NCA members had peacefully gathered at Africa Unity Square in Harare to demonstrate the need for a new constitution.
The latest attack on peace loving Zimbabweans is further evidence of the intolerance by the Mugabe regime and it leaves no doubt in the minds of all Zimbabweans and the international community that the regime is bent on suppressing the democratic expression of the people of Zimbabwe.
Despite all these brutal attacks on innocent civilians, the will of the people will prevail. The MDC and its allies, which includes the NCA, will continue to struggle for the restoration of the basic rights of the people of Zimbabwe. As this struggle was won against the brutal Smith regime, it will be won against the tyrannical Mugabe regime.
